Elastic®, the company behind Elasticsearch®, today announced the appointment of Adam Button as the company’s first field chief technology officer (CTO) for EMEA. In this new role, Button will leverage his deep technical expertise to help bridge the gap between technical and business teams, inform product development, and further strengthen customer relationships.

Button brings a wealth of experience, having held pivotal roles in building and leading global security operations at public and private organisations. In his previous role at Sitecore, Button led an international team responsible for product cybersecurity across 23 countries. He also spearheaded the world’s first SaaS containerised end-to-end security solution, which automated 95% of Sitecore’s security events with a 9% error rate, averaging 44,500 events a week.

Button has also held senior security leadership roles at the UK’s Ministry of Defence Application Services Team, BFPO, and Defence Medical Headquarters, where he was responsible for auditing, authoring, and implementing risk assessments, security policies, and documentation for UK Central Government and Ministry of Defence.

“CISOs today are under immense pressure to manage increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks while simultaneously juggling compliance and resource optimisation, all in a challenging economic climate,” said Button. “Having worked with Elastic on the customer side, I’ve witnessed first-hand how our solutions can help customers achieve end-to-end visibility and safeguard customer data. I look forward to providing strategic guidance to customers on how to get the best out of Elasticsearch and AI-powered security solutions.”

“Adam’s security expertise gained in the private and public sectors combined with his deep knowledge of Elastic’s security solutions will bring huge value to our customers and internal teams,” said Oliver Oursin, Vice President of Solutions Architecture EMEA at Elastic.
