SCP Club Builds Momentum with Second Flagship Event

The UK Supply Chain Professionals (SCP) Club last month hosted its second flagship event, bringing together industry leaders, academics and supply chain experts to explore how agentic AI and autonomous data intelligence are transforming modern supply chains. With high quality data representing the DNA of modern supply chains, the debate focused on the real-world, multi-million cost of flawed or incomplete data in stalling operations, and explored the opportunity presented by Agentic AI in facilitating fast, confident decision-making to mitigate this risk.

Hosted by Slimstock at Morgan Motor Company, and building on the success of its launch event in November 2025, the SCP Club continues to provide a collaborative space for open dialogue, shared learning and practical insights.

With sessions focused on how Agentic AI is enabling organisations to better manage volatility and mitigate risk, building materials firm and Slimstock customer, Bouwmaat, shared its own experiences, emphasising the significant financial impact of getting master data right first time. Citing multi-million savings driven by improved accuracy, faster product launches and a substantial reduction in manual data processing when launching new products or clearing old stock, Bouwmaat’s CEO Paulo Peereboom explains:

“Modern supply chains mean everything must happen within much shorter timeframes. This creates a pressure cooker effect, where errors, broken processes, or poor data quality are quickly magnified. When master data is wrong, the consequences can escalate rapidly into millions of euros in losses. An example of this in practice is one I encountered in a previous role, whereby data errors were resulting in folder leaflets being reprinted every two weeks at a cost of €300,000 each time. Over the course of a year, this accumulated into a €multi-million hit to the bottom line.

“The magnitude and real-world impact of poor data are, in my view, widely underestimated, and addressing this is where agentic AI has the potential to deliver significant, tangible value.”

Other speakers, including Steven Pauly, AI Lead at Slimstock, and Purchase Ai’s Founder Samir Selimi, looked at how, by automatically fixing, validating and confirming data in real time, AI removes the need for time-consuming email exchanges, manual chasing and adjustments, customer clarifications and rejected changes. Intelligent systems instead present validated data directly to colleagues for approval, significantly reducing manual input, human error and the need for repetitive checking processes.

“Poor data isn’t just an admin issue or inconvenience, it creates real-world risk,” adds Slimstock’s Steven Pauly. “Errors in demand data for example can trigger overproduction or stockouts, which result in revenue leakage. And late or incomplete shipment data can lead to missed delivery windows and contractual penalties, incurring costs and eroding stakeholder trust. This patchwork quilt effect impacts planning and ripples across networks, risking chaos where calm is needed.”

“Agentic AI is addressing this problem head on. Unlike traditional analytics, agentic systems don’t just report on data, they actively monitor, validate, and question it. allowing anomalies to be nipped in the bud before they escalate,” he continues.

With community at the heart of the SCP Club’s ethos, the event highlighted the importance of bringing together diverse perspectives and encouraging open knowledge sharing, to help expedite the adoption of best practice and innovation across the industry.

“This shift in emphasis around data quality and speed is redefining traditional roles within organisations,” comments Jenny Lowrie, Director of the UK SCP Club. “Rather than acting as “data police,” supply chain and data analysts are evolving into value-driven business advisors who can focus on insight generation and strategic decision-making.

“Agentic AI is fundamentally changing how we think about supply chain operations. When data becomes self-managing and self-improving, it frees people to focus on higher-value activities that drive real business impact. What’s exciting is how quickly this is becoming a reality for those organisations embracing it, and this momentum is only set to accelerate.”

Attendees left the event with practical insights, new connections and a clearer understanding of how Agentic AI can be applied to address real-world challenges and carve out competitive advantage.

As supply chains continue to face uncertainty, the SCP Club remains committed to fostering a community that supports progression, collaboration and innovation. Further details on upcoming events will be announced soon as the SCP Club continues to grow and evolve.
