Trimble and TRAVIS Road Services announced today the go-live of a new integration connecting the Trimble CoPilot in-cab navigation platform with TRAVIS’s European truck services network. It enables drivers to discover and book access to more than 750+ registered TRAVIS parking locations, removing a long-standing source of friction for drivers and fleet managers.

The integration is available for Trimble CoPilot customers across 26 European countries. Drivers are redirected to TRAVIS to view availability and complete bookings; booking terms and pricing are provided by TRAVIS.

The integration comes at a time when European carriers face growing pressure around driver safety, security and Hours of Service compliance.

According to a recent study by the European Commission, drivers spend an average of 45 minutes per day searching for a safe and legal place to rest before their Hours of Service limits run out. This leads to unnecessary anxiety and fatigue, and for women drivers in particular, finding a secure location is a personal safety issue. Beyond the human cost, parking-related inefficiencies can add up to €19,200 per truck annually through lost time, unnecessary mileage and wasted fuel[1].

In addition, cargo security pressures are intensifying across Europe as criminal networks increasingly target transport routes. Nearly 40% of all cargo thefts across Europe take place at unsecured roadside parking or rest areas, with cargo crime draining €8.2 billion annually from the logistics economy. Thus, secure parking is no longer just a driver welfare issue; it has become a critical supply chain security requirement.

How it works

Through the integration, CoPilot users can search for TRAVIS parking locations along their planned route, near their current location or by searching for a specific site. Once a suitable location is identified, a direct link within CoPilot takes the driver to the TRAVIS platform to complete their booking. Drivers can also receive parking and entry instructions in more than 10 native languages via the TRAVIS Driver App, giving them greater certainty when planning mandatory rest periods.

Fleet managers operating across Europe receive a single periodic invoice from TRAVIS covering all parking costs,  making VAT recovery simpler, improving cost visibility and eliminating the need to manage receipts from multiple countries and suppliers.

The shortage of safe and secure truck parking remains a structural challenge in European road transport, as demand for dedicated spaces consistently exceeds supply.

While digital tools cannot solve the parking shortage on their own, they can help fleets make better use of available capacity and reduce time spent searching for suitable locations.

The Trimble-TRAVIS integration can support the goals of the EU’s Fit for 55 programme and the Mobility Package by reducing unnecessary vehicle kilometres driven during parking searches and cutting associated fuel waste.
