With an eye towards sustainability, reducing waste is a key priority for grocers. Coop Sweden has earmarked sustainability as a key focus across its business. To support its sustainability goals, Coop Sweden has selected category management solutions from JDA Software, Inc., to reduce waste and improve product availability in each of its 800+ grocery stores. Coop Sweden has been a JDA customer for decades, leveraging JDA Advanced Warehouse Replenishment and is now extending its footprint with an eye on localization and consumer centricity, while driving sustainability goals.
Coop Sweden is one of the largest grocery retailers in Sweden, operating more than 800 stores across the country, owned by 3.5 million members, in 30 consumer associations. Coop aims to offer their consumers affordable goods, sustainable assortment and different store formats that radiate joy of food. Sustainability is part of Coop’s DNA; Sustainability policy, sustainability strategy and objectives guide their work. Coop’s vision is to be the good force in food across Sweden.
Better engagement and a superior shopper experience are two of Coop’s main priorities within their grocery supply chain strategies. Creating better store offerings based on the local shopper requirements is integral towards driving shopper loyalty, improving frequency of visits and boosting overall customer satisfaction. In addition, Coop wanted to localize planograms in each store, but had hit a limit on internal resources to make that a reality.
Localization was one of the challenges and drivers towards the selection of JDA® Category Management to automate planograms, enabling the planning of store shelves according to shopper behaviours. Improved and customized selection in Coop’s stores will lead to reduced waste – a major priority as Coop aims for sustainability across all areas of their business.
Coop will deploy a range of JDA Category Management solutions to support its strategy and vision, and give it a level of visibility and compliance it never had before. JDA will automate Coop’s space management process and improve communications with in-store associates to drive compliance. With JDA, Coop will also be able to create, manage, analyse, optimize and distribute detailed in-store planograms. To address its localization needs, Coop will be able to create store-specific category plans that optimize the position, performance and layout of product categories to precisely meet local consumer demand and drive sales.
“With JDA, Coop Sweden is well-positioned for growth as it targets shoppers’ habits and purchase history to deliver the right products on the right shelves in the right store,” said Johan Reventberg, president, EMEA, JDA. “Coop has strategically prioritized waste reduction as part of its sustainability efforts, which is a high priority for grocers and consumers alike and will boost shopper loyalty as well.”
