The new EVO Desktop Reader HF 2.0 from iDTRONIC is the successor to our compact EVO Desktop Reader HF. This new RFID reader is a versatile read and write device for use within Industry and IT environments.

This new version includes a Dual-Interface USB 3.0. This allows both manual configuration and a choice of two modes. It can work within HID (= Human Interface Design) or VCP (= Virtual COM Port) mode.

HID Mode = Keyboard Emulation (Read only)

With the HID mode, users may retrieve data from the transponders as keyboard emulation. The output may be set to various formats. The reader can read out serial numbers, along with information from user memory, as HEX or ASCII output format. The configuration may be done via a configuration tool which is compatible with Windows OS. The HID mode is perfectly suited for web applications in heterogeneous IT cloud environments.

VC Mode = Virtual COM Port (Full read and write access)
The VC mode offers fully read / write access to all supported transponder types. The device can be operated via demo software, sample source codes, and a USB driver on Windows OS. Other operating systems are supported via a serial command protocol and a virtual COM Port interface based on a SiliconLabs chipset. It is designed for Industry 4.0 applications and may be easily integrated into any operating system.

A user-friendly software development kit (SDK) and configuration tool for Windows operating systems is provided, as well as an operating-system-independent command protocol.

The EVO Desktop Reader HF 2.0 boasts a high reading range of up to 10 cm, depending on Tag type and orientation, thanks to its integrated antenna.

The 13.56 MHz high frequency version supports transponders and tags of ISO 14443A, ISO 15693 as of ISO 18000-3, including NXP MIFARE Ultralight®, MIFARE® Classic 1K, MIFARE® Classic 4K, I-Code SLI, TI Tag-it HF-I and more.

The signal-controlled LED illuminated frame sets this compact reader apart from other RFID readers. The blue LED illuminated frame and an acoustic signal shows a successful tag communication.

Thanks to its IP40 protection class, the reader provides reliable protection against external influences, like the penetration of solid bodies exceeding 1 mm. It withstands outdoor temperatures from – 20 °C to + 70 °C.

The reader has an attractive, modern design. The anthracite housing consists of the robust plastic acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS). It is truly lightweight at just 130 grams. The reader may be easily transported thanks to its compact, rectangular housing — measuring 12.6 × 6.9 × 2.7 cm (L × W × H).

The iDTRONIC EVO Desktop Reader HF 2.0 is now available in new markets.

It is perfect for system integrators seeking simple reader development and integration. This device has a mini USB socket at the front with an included 1.5 m, standard USB cable.
