PLM Global were only formed in 2014, but they already have an enviable record for growth and expansion. Their success story continues with the opening of their new flagship repair & distribution centre in Nottingham which has solidified their Midlands presence and allowed them to offer valuable new jobs within the local community.
Specialising in the supply, repair and maintenance of hand-held capture devices, mobile print and EPoS hardware, PLM Global could easily have succumbed to trading challenges brought about by the ‘double-whammy’ of COVID and Brexit.
Instead, thanks to clever planning, flexibility and a strong ambition to succeed, the company have thrived. They have seen their employees increase from just 4 to 21, added another 100 clients to their customer base of 458 and increased total turnover to an impressive £3.1 Million.
But this is a company with even bigger goals and that is very evidently represented by this new investment in Nottingham which complements the capability they have at their Portishead facility. As well as increasing their capacity to support clients with legacy equipment, this new East Midlands base will provide opportunities for 2 or 3 local young adults via the Kickstarter Apprentice scheme, alongside more experienced recruits.
Providing opportunities in the local area is important to PLM Global as they recognise the significant reduction in investment in young people during the pandemic. They want to pave the way for the next generation by providing a route to gain experience in the workplace – their particular workplace being a great place to be, according to their employees!
The new flagship site brings PLM Global right back to the centre of the country, but it also is part of the wider growth strategy which the Directors hope will help them achieve their goal of £5 Million turnover within the next 3 years. This ambitious plan involves growing the number of end-users by increasing the supply of OEM products, whilst continuing to provide high quality refurbished legacy products.
Having this extra Nottingham base also ensures that PLM Global can remain resilient in the longer term as it gives them more options in the supply of their products throughout the UK and across the world. They are already trading in 6 different continents, despite UK business leaders’ fears that Brexit was likely to curtail global business.
Proud Managing Director, Shane Watson, told us:
“We are a relatively young company and that has allowed us to be agile. We have focussed on tailoring our solutions to clients’ needs, helping them with inventory to meet changes in demand and even offering shorter-term service agreements. We also invested in our global profile with projects such as our e-commerce site and added vertical markets to bolster the peaks and troughs of the retail sector. The new flagship site in Nottingham, and the opportunities it has created, has been the absolute icing on the cake!”
