TPN – THE Pallet Network, has signed new-to-networks Markfield-based Central Logistics Solutions (CLS) to cover Leicester postcodes.
The company, which boasts clients such as Amazon, Network Rail, Travis Perkins, Toyota and BMW, says joining a pallet network was the next natural stage of the company’s evolution. The directors did exhaustive research to find the best pallet network in the UK.
“We narrowed our choices to four, and looked hard at customer reviews, KPI data, and network culture,” says CLS Director John Musumeci. “TPN was a clear winner for us because it has an ethos of quality rather than an aggressive sales strategy.
“I have very high standards for customer service because it ensures customer retention and TPN fit with our principles and business model,” he adds. “Their approach is relaxed, and unpressured either on Members or customers, but nonetheless extremely professional, committed to excellence, and supportive.”
Musumeci says he is ‘delighted’ to have been given Leicester postcodes for TPN. “We have extensive experience of working with DHL, in particular supporting its NHS Supplychain, so we are already used to working to high external standards.”
Leicester-based CLS offers national general haulage, and same-day courier services, as well as managing European shipments through long-term partners. In 16 years of trading CLS has never received a single customer complaint.
It has a modern 30-strong fleet, ranging between car-derived vans and full-weight artics.
TPN MD Mark Duggan says: “CLS is an excellent firm and we are very pleased to welcome them to the network. Joining a network is a little like a marriage – it’s important that your values and goals align from the start and we have that with CLS.”
CLS is the first company to be signed during lockdown which meant that all the normal recruitment meetings were virtual.
“Traditionally we would meet prospective Members face to face but instead we’ve used Microsoft Teams. And because good business decisions are data-led and not based on a firm handshake or dinner, we can present an excellent business case to hauliers simply by letting them see our performance levels and figures. That tells them almost everything they need to know about how we operate,” says Duggan.
Musumeci says he is very impressed with TPN’s onboarding process. “Honestly I’m really chuffed. Everyone has been swift, helpful and very professional in helping us set up. We’ve barely started and I can already tell this is a great team.”
