We see malware and ransomware as a rising problem in all sectors but poor document governance is often deprioritised when it comes to security because of how difficult it is to manage the exploding amounts of content being created every day within business.
The vast majority of workers that deal with sensitive client information say that externally sharing inconsistent, incorrect, or unreliable content poses security risks. However, almost half of these workers admitted that sensitive documents have been shared with an unauthorised party.
Despite mass investments in security, and increasing education against phishing and ransomware, threats are being generated from within by poor document governance everyday. From managing metadata to standardisation of access privileges, without a centralised system governing content creation, companies are creating openings for human error to lead to fines, loss of revenue and potentially cyberattacks.
