  • Revolutionary truck design thanks to lithium-ion technology
  • iF Design Award is one of the most important design awards in the world

The Jungheinrich ETV 216i reach truck has received the iF Design Award 2019. It is the world’s first reach truck in which the battery has been permanently integrated into the truck design. Jungheinrich has consistently utilised the advantages of space-saving and powerful lithium-ion battery technology for this purpose. The ETV 216i is significantly more compact than conventional reach trucks, providing greater agility and improved ergonomics, giving the operator more freedom of movement and better all-round visibility. The result is an especially user-friendly and safer warehouse.

Michael Niebuhr, Head of Industrial Design at Jungheinrich AG, explains: “When developing the ETV 216i, engineers and designers worked together consistently from the outset. The result is a truck that combines design and performance like no other before it. The fact that the ETV 216i has now been honoured with an iF Award confirms that we have taken the right path with this new concept in vehicle design.”

Special Award for “65 Years of Participation in iF Design Award”

The iF Design Award is one of the world’s most important design awards. It honours design achievements in the disciplines of product, packaging, communication and service design/UX, architecture and interior design as well as professional concept. Jungheinrich won the iF Design Award for the first time in 1954 with its “Ameise” electric pedestrian controlled truck – this year’s award marks the 18th time that Jungheinrich has won the iF Design Award in the Product category. Jungheinrich is also one of seven companies to receive the special award “65 years of iF design award participation”. iF CEO Ralph Wiegmann notes: “That is genuine design expertise – combined with quality, reliability and innovation.” 65 years ago, Jungheinrich had already recognised the importance of design and has continuously developed its design philosophy further.
