Government Office for Science to Provide Insights into the Future of Mobility and Implications for Freight to 2040 at Microlise Transport Conference

A senior UK policy adviser, who leads on transport projects at the Government Office for Science (GOS), will speak at the Microlise Transport Conference on the 15 May. Jonathan Keating is a senior adviser at GOS, leading on various elements of its transport and infrastructure portfolio.

Speaking in the main conference agenda at Europe’s largest road transport conference, Jonathan will give delegates an insight into the work his department is doing, advising government on how science, and scientific evidence, can be part of the solution to the transport industry’s challenges.

He will outline that factors that will impact the future of our transport system out to 2040, and the implications for freight as highlighted by the Foresight Future of Mobility project.

Keating said: “We are at a time of unprecedented change in the transport system. Social changes outside the transport sector have markedly altered how and why we use the system. Coming changes like the growing ageing population, will meet technological advances in electrification, data and automation to bring fresh opportunities.”

“Freight is a critical part of the UK economy and has been one of the focuses of our work and my presentation will explore the future of the freight transport system. I look forward to sharing our insights at the Microlise Transport Conference,” he added.

The Microlise Transport Conference is aimed at those working in management or operational roles within fleet operators, regardless of fleet size, industry sector or which technologies they have in place.
