Infor®, the industry cloud company, has joined the Catena-X initiative. The consortium aims to create a common data ecosystem for the automotive industry that makes material flows along the entire supply chain digitally traceable. Infor announced its membership at the Hannover Messe trade fair in April.

Catena-X has been created as an association of the most renowned manufacturers, suppliers and service providers in the automotive industry to accompany and accelerate the digital transformation of the industry. The past few years, in particular — due to the pandemic and geopolitical challenges — have shown that global supply chains can change rapidly and radically or even swiftly be disrupted altogether, making it even more urgent for all those involved to be able to respond to current challenges as quickly as possible. Furthermore, the trend towards electric vehicles and the ever-increasing impact of climate change have accelerated transformation of the market even more. Catena-X thus aims to connect major industry players of all kinds in a common data ecosystem at eye level — making supply chain management more resilient and flexible than ever before.

The consortium’s philosophy aligns with Infor’s strategy to provide a highly standardized and open multi-tenant digital cloud ERP platform for secure data exchange in the automotive industry as well as for innovation and digital transformation in manufacturing and service. By joining, Infor can actively participate in innovation and standardization efforts to optimize data exchange in manufacturing. As a member of Catena-X, Infor can also integrate relevant and valuable use cases for its customers based on its own highly standardized and multi-tenant cloud platform. Customers, thus, also benefit early on from new trends and developments via updates to Infor CloudSuite Automotive.

“Infor evaluated Catena-X from many aspects as well as relevance to the automotive industry and Infor customers in this segment,” said Henning Dransfeld, Infor director for automotive industry strategy & solutions, international. “We also concluded in dialogue with our customers that the organization has reached a strong momentum and that it is a good time to get involved and actively participate in shaping the European standards.”
