James and James Fulfilment, a provider of outsourced fulfilment services to online retailers, today unveils significant expansion at its Ohio fulfilment centre, with a site that is nearly three times larger and more technologically advanced. Designed to meet increased demand in the US, investment in this region enables James and James to support fast growing eCommerce firms as they sell in this market.
Recent increases to international shipping costs into the US have highlighted the benefits of domestic shipping for eCommerce firms. With sites in the UK, US and The Netherlands, this expanded Ohio facility, now 80,000 sq ft, enables James and James to protect customers from changes in international shipping with increased options on where to ship from. Retailers can trade more confidently and efficiently, with reduced delivery times, greater reliability and at a lower cost. Brands such as Frenchie Bulldog, Crafted London and Lisa Eldridge depend on James and James to enable them to sell to the lucrative US market.
James and James is contributing to the local economy too. Aside from investing in new equipment, its expansion has involved staff training and the recruitment of 15 new employees; including a ‘Goods In Manager’, ‘Inventory Operations Manager’ and ‘Inventory Team Leader’. But, it’s not just about the local economy, eCommerce firms working with James and James to fulfil goods in the US will benefit from its award-winning, proprietary, cloud-based fulfilment technology platform. This order management system (OMS), ControlPort, underpins and manages all of the operations across its fulfilment centres.
“The US provides a great additional market for UK retailers, with many shifting their focus from the EU to US after Brexit. This new fulfilment centre provides the certainty and cost benefits of domestic shipping to businesses who are trying to reach or grow in that region. Ohio is not only well-placed to serve the East Coast population but is also within a one-day drive to most major populaces,” says Emma Dempsey, CEO, James and James Fulfilment. “Offering clients access to a strong technology platform and multiple sites from which to trade and ship internationally provides greater protection from changes in international trade, and reduces shipping costs and time to market for those trying to scale.”
This new Ohio facility currently employees 37 full-time employees, and forms part of James and James Fulfilment’s wider international expansion plans. The firm is also looking to open a new fulfilment centre on the West Coast, while continuing to grow operations in the UK and EU, among other regions globally.
