Business has gone from strength to strength for total supply chain solutions, distribution, and logistics specialist, Oakland International, who celebrates a successful first year of trading at their Bardon facility in Coalville, Leicestershire with staff recruitment remaining top of their agenda.

Councillor Tony Gillard, Portfolio Holder for Business and Regeneration at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: “Oakland International has helped to generate a lot of growth for North West Leicestershire and it’s great to see how much its Bardon site has achieved in just one year.

“Despite opening its doors in the height of the pandemic, the Bardon facility has helped to boost the local economy with new employment prospects and investment opportunities across the district.

“We’d like to congratulate the Bardon team for making its first year trading a success and look forward to seeing the company continue to expand in years to come.”

Recruiting for HGV and manual handling equipment (MHE) drivers, pickers and various warehouse operative roles and administration staff, Oakland currently has a range of warehouse vacancies and administration roles available.

Oakland International Group MD Shaun Foley explains: “Bardon is an amazing success story. We launched Bardon in August 2020 in the middle of the pandemic and today we employ over 200 full time staff. We’re now in the process of transferring some agency staff to full time employment, with our aim to reach around 300 employees within weeks.”

Injecting much needed job positivity into the local area, employee numbers should reach some 300 by the end of October 2021, and with a capacity for up to 400 staff, they’re very keen to hear from local people searching for new opportunities working within the food industry.

Operating a policy of giving something back to the local community wherever they operate, the company now supports 2 local food banks and together with their children’s charity the Oakland Foundation, they are beginning to create links with community youth organisations and local schools.

Councillor Keith Merrie MBE, County Councillor for Coalville South at Leicestershire County Council, said: “Oakland International’s expansion into the Bardon site has been great for Ellistown and Battleflat and North West Leicestershire. They have provided jobs for local people, and they are proactive in helping the local community. I wish them continued success.”
