Nine Twenty Recruitment widens the search for top UK talent for Pelion as global IoT company sees growth soar


Rapidly-expanding Internet of Things (IoT) pioneer Pelion has turned to innovative Scottish technology recruitment specialist Nine Twenty as it seeks out top talent from across the UK to maintain and accelerate its growth trajectory.

Pelion, originally founded as an incubation unit within technology giant Arm, is looking to significantly grow its 80-strong Glasgow team over the next two years. Glasgow is a key location for the IoT company with over 300 staff across Europe, North America and Asia. It is currently recruiting for 6 roles, with more being added shortly, after Nine Twenty, which has a longstanding relationship with Pelion that stretches back to 2014, sourced eight people for the business since the end of 2020.

Rachael Baxter, Head of Delivery at Nine Twenty, said: “In its former guise as Stream technologies, Pelion was my first client when I joined Nine Twenty back in 2014. I worked closely with their CTO at the time and, between 2014 and 2018 we placed around 18 candidates across the business.

“In 2018 I was tasked with 10 new hires in a very short period of time, due to the business being acquired by Arm, which also has its own internal recruitment function, as Pelion has been spun out as an independent company, I’ve been recruiting for them since November.

“It’s been great to recruit for them again, particularly as the hiring managers were placed by Nine Twenty many years ago. It’s a business that I am very passionate about recruiting for.”

Pelion is looking to expand across all areas of its business and the 6 vacancies it has live with Nine Twenty include engineering, DevOps and technical sales roles. The business has also already placed a number of people, including two software engineers, a programme manager and People Business Partner, Loretta Perry.

“I had just finished a contract when this role came up and I knew it would motivate and excite me, but I also knew I was being placed by a reliable agency.”
