GTT Communications Inc., a leading global cloud networking provider to multinational clients, and Virtual1 a leading wholesale-only network provider have announced they are expanding their partnership. The expanded partnership enables Virtual1 to offer its customers a range of international connectivity options that leverage GTT’s global Tier 1 IP network which spans more than 260 cities on six continents.
As part of its expanded capability, Virtual1 will offer two versions of International Dedicated Internet Access (DIA): wires only, or with managed Customer Premises Equipment (CPE), along with primary and failover configuration on these services. These services are provided with IP addresses and local, in-country internet breakout, to give users a native internet experience. A wide range of port speed options will be available, from 100Mbps to 100Gbps, depending on geography.
“The growth of SD-WAN over the past years as a potentially lower-cost approach to wide area networks, combined with the expansion by our end-customers into international markets, has driven an increased demand for centrally managed international connectivity”, said Neil Wilson, Product Strategy Director, Virtual1. “Partnering with GTT gives us access to a world-class Tier 1 IP network and GTT’s expertise in managing global connectivity. By extending our partnership with GTT, we can now offer our customers a range of enhanced internet international connectivity options.”
“We’ve been working with Virtual1 for many years”, commented Tom Homer, GTT Division President, Europe. “We’re delighted to be building on our strong partnership with the company as it continues expanding its advanced wholesale-only network offering internationally to meet growing customer demand”.
GTT’s global Tier 1 IP backbone is ranked among the largest in the industry and operates with more than 240Tbps of core capacity. GTT recently announced it is investing in a 400G upgrade to its network to address the continued double-digit increase in IP traffic and to provide improved scalability and higher-capacity options for GTT’s suite of internet and WAN services.
