Microlise Group, a leading global provider of telematics and fleet management solutions, has today announced the launch of its revolutionary ClearVision AI Distraction Camera. Designed to address the critical issue of driver distraction, this cutting-edge, fully integrated driver-facing camera uses artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to detect and mitigate distractions, significantly improving fleet safety.
In today’s fast-paced world, driver distraction is a major concern, and with 80% of all road traffic accidents caused by distracted driving, the Group’s ClearVision AI Distraction Camera will fill a gap in the market. Recognising the need for an innovative solution, the new product will empower Fleet Managers with the tools they need to ensure the wellbeing of their drivers and the communities they serve.
Leveraging state-of-the-art computer vision technology, the Group’s ClearVision AI Distraction Camera enables near real-time monitoring of driver behaviour. The camera can accurately detect various forms of distraction – including mobile phone usage, eating, drinking, and smoking – and provide immediate feedback to drivers, helping them understand the risks associated with their behaviour.
With real-time audio and visual alerts, drivers can quickly correct their actions, reinforcing safe driving habits and reducing the likelihood of accidents. Where a driver does not alter their behaviour, an event is registered in the Microlise system to be picked up at debrief. The camera captures video evidence, enabling Fleet Managers to review incidents and provide targeted coaching and training to drivers when necessary. One company – with a fleet of 200 vehicles – that has used the new technology, has reported an 80% reduction in mobile phone distraction and a 43% reduction in overall risk after just three months.
In addition to enhancing safety, the Group’s ClearVision AI Distraction Camera and wider camera solution offers a host of other benefits, helping to reduce insurance premiums, improve fuel efficiency, and enhance compliance with regulatory requirements. The camera system also promotes a culture of safety within fleets, fostering a sense of responsibility and accountability among drivers.
The ClearVision AI Distraction Camera seamlessly integrates with the Group’s comprehensive fleet management platform, providing transport professionals with a holistic view of driver performance and behaviour. The captured data is securely stored, allowing for in-depth analysis and providing actionable insights that can further optimise fleet operations.
Speaking on the new product launch, Nadeem Raza, the Company’s CEO (pictured left), said: “We are thrilled to introduce our ClearVision AI Distraction Camera, which represents a major step forward in fleet safety technology. Driver distraction is a serious issue that requires proactive measures, and our cameras offer a proactive and effective solution.
“By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence (AI), we can create a safer driving environment and, ultimately, help to save lives.”
The launch of Microlise’s ClearVision AI Distraction Camera marks a significant milestone in the Company’s ongoing mission to create safer roads and is one of two safety-forward products set to launch this year. The product is currently being piloted by four large-scale transport operations globally, and more information can be found here.
