Paessler, the monitoring experts for IT infrastructures and networks, today announces its new partnerships with LoRa Alliance® as well as mioty alliance. The partnerships will strengthen Paessler’s network of specialists in the IoT world. The new alliances complete the partnership between Paessler and the French company Sigfox, which has been in place for several years. As a result, Paessler now works with all the key players in the Low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) field. Due to increasing digitalisation, topics such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 have been playing an increasingly important role for businesses. From the simple measurement of room temperature to building management or highly complex applications and processes in the industrial environment – data must be reliably transmitted, centrally collected, and monitored.
Major advantages for customers
As a member of LoRa Alliance® and mioty alliance, Paessler combines monitoring solutions with LoRa and mioty technology, thus creating various advantages for its customers, including:
- Simple and cost-effective monitoring of the status and availability in IoT environments
- Clear visualisation of the data, sophisticated alerting and reporting mechanisms, wide range of supported protocols and technologies
- Fast and affordable implementation thanks to extensive standardisation
LoRa Alliance®
More specifically, to meet requirements, data transmission via LPWAN is an optimal solution in application areas such as building management, logistics, smart agriculture, or smart city. Small data packages are transmitted over a relatively long distance with minimised energy consumption. As an international consortium of technology companies, LoRa Alliance® promotes and communicates the use of LPWAN technology to establish corresponding infrastructures and enable innovative IoT solutions.
mioty alliance
With mioty, the Fraunhofer Institute has raised the established LPWAN technology to a new level. In addition to classical advantages of LPWAN, the data capacity for the collection of data was increased and the reliability of LPWAN was enhanced. Mioty alliance brings together companies that – using mioty – create innovative IoT and IIoT solutions. These can be solutions for retrofitting in the industrial environment, for condition monitoring in buildings, and also in the field of agriculture or smart city.
The Internet of Things creates new possibilities and opportunities, but three main challenges arise in almost all IoT projects:
- Measured data must be transported from the sensor to the network server in the cloud, where it is analysed – often over long distances and without a cable infrastructure
- The transport routes of the coded data must be monitored and secured
- Data must be decoded, evaluated, and displayed
“We have more than 20 years of experience in the monitoring industry and now apply this know-how also beyond traditional IT environments. Especially in the field of IoT and Industry 4.0, monitoring solutions are needed that support the various standards and make monitoring as easy as possible,” says Helmut Binder, CEO of Paessler AG. “With the new alliances, we can raise the quality of our solutions in the IoT area to an even higher level and offer our customers numerous decisive advantages for their IoT monitoring.”
